Lean And Green

Hey Haute Mommies.  A little tip I want to share with you that I've been trying lately and IT WORKS! It's super easy, will get ya lean, and it's GREEN! #LeanAndGreen So here's the deal.  At your next meal, add arugula lettuce over, under or on the side to cut calories in half AND fill you up.  Think 1 Enchilada (instead of two) + 2 handfuls of Arugula = 1/2 fat and calories and just as much flavor.

When I cook pasta which is often at home, I take a handful of spaghetti, a handful of arugula on top and finish it off with parmesian cheese and pepper.  It's so simple it almost seems dumb -  but promise this'll help you shed those few extra lbs you can't seem to get rid of.   All you're doing is cutting your portion size in half and replacing the caloric foods with something seriously good for ya...We typically think of Arugula in salads but I suggest introducing it to your diet it as so much more; part of a main dish, a side dish or even as it's own spice/condiment.  Arugula packs a serious flavor punch, wonderfully peppery which enhances the taste of most dishes

On a scientific note, my father the hero, Dr. David Heber, Founding Director of UCLA Center for Human Nutrition, says arugula is a dark leafy green that offers serious health benefits too.  It contains something called Lutein which helps protect from blindness and is exceptional for the brain. Part of the broccoli family, arugula stimilutates enzymes in your liver that help protect against toxins like pestisides and other toxins in our environment.  Dr. Daddy also recommends eating it with literally a drop or two of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to help absorb the benefits of the lettuce.

So...let us put our favorite lettuce (get it, get it :) on the menu and include it in every meal to come.

The ABC's of Oscar Fashion

Ok let's get REAL real here.  Last night's Oscar broadcast was about as enjoyable as watching paint dry.  The media can spin it any way they want but here's a dose of reality...IT SUCKED!  Thank goodness for some and I do mean SOME fabulous fashion on the red carpet.  In a sea of mundane (think Naomi Watts, Jessica Chasten and even fashion darling Lupito Nyongo) a few goddesses stood out representing our ABC's of Oscar Fashion.  Here goes...our best-dressed at last nights snoooooozefest

THE ULTIMATE A-LISTER: Jennifer Aniston effortless perfection in nude sparkly Versace.

THE BLONDE BOMBSHELL:  Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent and Van Cleef & Arpels statement necklace - reminiscent of iconic beauty Michelle Pfeiffer

THE CLASSIC: Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford. From her hair to makeup and of course the gorgeous gown, flawless all around

HAUTE MOM ALERT!!! I mean...Hello LADIES!

Though not my fave getup from Scarlett Jo - in Versace, let's not forget she gave birth around 5 months ago...

And Rosamond Pike in Givenchy had a babe less-than 3 months ago! O M G Jaw on the floor!

Kate Hudson On Shape

Kate Hudson blows it out of the water on the cover of Shape Magazine this month talking about what else, ya guessed it, her own famous shape....oh yea and her new adorbs activewear line, Fabletics. www.shape.com If you know anything about me, you know I'm in ♥♥♥ with K-Hud.  Not just because she's stunning, successful, cool (first hand experience from a couple unforgettable red-carpet chats but she exudes true happiness.  That is really hard to find.  Kate tells Shape mag she finds her balance in meditation...taking a few minutes for herself everyday even if it's just "staring at a wall"  Where'd she learn such wisdom??  Ya guessed it again, her own mama, Goldie Hawn.  But what I love most about this interview is what Kate reveals she doesn't do - making her a bit more like the rest of us - that keeps her at the top of her game.  She doesn't use a personal chef, she doesn't diet and she doesn't have some crazy celebrity fitness routine.  Instead the 35-year-old Haute Mom-of-2 enjoys cooking healthy meals for her family, exercises to "get oxygen to my brain" with a bike ride, TRX or boxing and overall leads a healthy lifestyle rather than relying on crash-diets for 2 weeks at a time.  Haute Mommies, let this inspire you to get out there and be the hauttest b#*$ch you can be!

Ballin Baby? I Think Not

Haute Mommies, my less-than-fond feelings about Kanye West have reached a new level with THIS.  He recently decided to suit up his 19-month-old daughter, North West, in a bullet proof vest at his own Adidas fashion show. What's better???  Kim K allowed it!!! WTFFFFFFF??!?!  This is so not funny, fashion-foward or fabulous as Kimye probably imagines, it's down right foolish.  Whatever deep, deep message Kanye and Kim are trying to send to the world "Our family is shielded from your insults" or "Whatever you say bounces right off" or "I'm protected for/from life" is NOT cute.  Someone stop them...

A Different Kind Of Valentine

My BFF's Bachelorette Party is this weekend, over Valentines Day at what's supposed to be the most heavenly destination on the planet earth, Miraval www.miravalresorts.com There's some real irony here.  First, most of us attending are either married or in serious relationships but spending V-day bonding with each other.  Second, a day designed for women across the country to dress up, or down theoretically, in the sexiest lingerie for their MEN is going to be spent decking out our WOMAN in bras, booty shorts, bustiers, you name it for her BLACK lingerie party.  Anywhoo...I'd heard about www.yandy.com as the go-to website for decorating our lovely lady lumps.  Lemme tell you, it does not disappoint.  They've got everything from the obvious-lingerie, to the playful- dresses, costumes, stockings, shoes, wigs, swimwear and more.  They cater to standard and plus size ladies (which I love) Oh and everything is totally affordable.  So while you Haute Mommies may be scrambling to find the perfect pair of panties to surprise your hubby with on V-day, I scored these for my girl on her B-day (Bachelorette Day)

And more...
